Security Guard

Job Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the pellet mill facility, team members, contractors, and visitors. This role monitors access to the property, conducts routine patrols, verifies credentials, enforces plant security protocols, and responds to incidents or emergencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong attention to detail, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to upholding company values of integrity, accountability, and caring.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances, exits, and perimeter of the plant to prevent unauthorized access and ensure security of property and personnel.

• Check in/out all visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers in accordance with facility access control procedures.

• Issue visitor badges, ensure completion of sign-in logs, and verify identification when required.

• Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols of the plant premises and surrounding property throughout the shift.

• Respond to security alarms, disturbances, or emergencies, and escalate to local authorities or site leadership as appropriate.

• Complete detailed incident and shift reports; maintain accurate logs of all security activities.

• Support enforcement of company safety policies including PPE usage, parking rules, and restricted zones.

• Coordinate with the operations, EHS, and maintenance teams regarding access for after-hours repairs or emergencies.

• Monitor surveillance systems (if applicable) and report irregularities in real time.

• Provide escort or assistance to team members or visitors upon request.

• Support site evacuation or emergency response procedures as a first responder.

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the guard station and front gate areas.

Qualification Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• 1+ year of security, military, law enforcement, or related experience preferred.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions.

• Basic proficiency with computers or digital log systems.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Security guard license (where required by jurisdiction).

• CPR, First Aid, or Emergency Response certification.

• Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
