Job Summary
The Onsite Safety Lead, stationed at each of the pellet mills, holds a multifaceted role encompassing both traditional safety responsibilities and an essential outreach component. In addition to ensuring safety protocols, this position involves actively engaging with all team members to address their concerns and perspectives on work-related matters.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the implementation of the safety programs, policies, and procedures at the individual pellet plant facilities.
• Conducts training in the pellet plant facilities including safety orientations for new hires.
• Conducts routine inspections across the pellet mill facility to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Conducts regular audits of existing safety protocols, identify areas for improvement, and ensure optimal safety levels are maintained.
• Conduct thorough investigations of any accidents or near-miss incidents, identify root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies, with reviews by the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, Plant Manager, Director of Operations
• Responsible for acquiring, maintaining, and ensuring the proper use of safety equipment throughout the particular pellet mill facility.

• Promotes a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among all Dansons’ team members at pellet mill facility.
• Tracking of the key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of safety initiatives.

• Provides support regarding new hire training on specific equipment.
• Coordinates safety drills and emergency response plans for the particular pellet mill facility.
• Responds to safety concerns and complaints from team members at pellet mill facility, utilizing the Safety Action Request process. Act as a professional liaison with regulatory agencies when directed by the Plant Manager or Environmental, Health and Safety Manager.
• Coordinates and facilitates programs to train managers and team members in work site safety a in accordance with Dansons and W. C. Bradley Co. policies; local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Facilitates posting information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of safety hazards or elevate safety awareness.
• Assists pellet mill leadership and injured team members on complying with Dansons’ modified duty or return to work (RTW) programs.
• Attend monthly update meeting with Environmental, Health and Safety Manager and Dansons CEO.
• Maintains office bulletin board and updates posting compliance
• Processes documents requiring office procedural knowledge. Reviews documents and obtains necessary signatures and routes appropriately
• Maintains and tracks issues within the monthly facility inspection files
• Maintains OSHA300 log, DOT accident registers and accident and injury files
• Assists with new hire orientation training program
• Assists and provides information to workers comp adjusters and site claim managers on injury claims
• Assists property damage claim repairs
• Coordinates information with claim adjusters and site claim managers on vehicle claims.
• Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum Education: • Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred: College degree ina related field.
Minimum Work Experience:
• Minimum Education required and four (4) years related work experience or
• Seven (7) years related work experience, leading administrative, health & safety initiatives and implementing a safety culture in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Wood products manufacturing experience a plus.
License(s) / Certification(s): • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or any certification related to Environmental Health and Safety is a required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training to all levels of team members.
• Experience building positive working relationships with both hourly and salaried team members.

• Ability to work in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees
