 Job Summary:

Responsible for providing management for an assigned team and facilitating semi-complex to complex accounting work for a Consumer Products business unit. This role oversees general ledger activities, supports period-end close, and ensures accurate financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures. Provides accounting leadership and support to cross-functional partners within the business unit.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting function for an assigned Consumer Products business unit.
  • Perform and oversee semi-complex to complex general accounting activities, including month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Reconcile multiple general ledger accounts, including accruals and expense-related accounts; ensure maintenance of complete and accurate reconciliation records.
  • Support accurate accounting for inventory-related activities, including analysis of inventory balances, reserves, and cost of goods sold.
  • Assist in ensuring the department provides accurate and timely financial data to business unit leadership and corporate finance.
  • Responsible for the fiscal financial close for the business unit, including preparation and review of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
  • Review and manage journal entries, bank reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Approve journal entries when appropriate to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support accounting for revenue-related items such as sales deductions, allowances, rebates, and chargebacks in coordination with finance and commercial teams.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end and other intermittent audits; ensure auditors are provided with accurate, well-documented, and defensible information.
  • Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all company financial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects, system implementations, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives as required or requested.
  • Provide advanced guidance and technical support on accounting issues impacting the Consumer Products business unit.
  • Manage the activities of the assigned team, providing leadership and direction in accordance with established policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing employee relations matters in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

Minimum Work Experience:

Eight (8) years of experience as an Accountant.

License(s) / Certification(s):

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge and proficiency applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and financial management software. (SAP and NetSuite are preferred)
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively assist internal customers in finding solutions. (Shared Service partnership experience is preferred)
  • Organizational skills and the ability to maintain information in a logical manner.
  • Strong communication skills to include the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate to diverse people in groups.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to effectively coordinate and lead the work of others.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Time management skills and the ability to work under stress, timetables with deadlines, and with frequent interruptions.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Ability to foster a team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
