Job Summary

W.C. Bradley Farms in Omaha, GA is seeking a Homesteading Specialist to join their team! In this role, you will plant, maintain, and harvest food crops. Duties may include: operating farm machinery; irrigating crops; and delivering products to market.  Assist farm staff with growing crops, feeding and raising livestock, and maintaining property.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Cultivate soil, sow crops and control weeds by slashing, rotary hoeing or chemical spraying.
•    Take part in harvesting operations using tractors, harvesters, forklifts and hand tools.
•    Feeding and care of livestock and poultry.
•    Clean and sterilize farm equipment.
•    Clear away animal waste and hose out operational areas; maintain property aesthetics.
•    Perform other tasks involved with the breeding and raising of livestock, such as shearing, dipping, branding, crutching, gelding, marking and assisting with artificial insemination.
•    Ride horses or all terrain vehicles (ATV).
•    Assist at farmers’ markets, with wholesale orders and on-farm sales.
•    Assist with cooler management.
•    Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.


Minimum Work Experience: Two (2) years of farm hand or similar experience.


License(s) / Certification(s): None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Knowledge of farm and livestock management.
•    Proficiency using and working with simple mechanical tools and equipment.
•    Ability to work in a physically demanding environment exposed to all types of weather conditions.
•    Ability to work effectively in a team or on one’s own.
•    Ability to handle animals with confidence and patience.
•    Ability to enjoy practical work.
•    Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness
