Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary

Responsible for the company’s manufacturing processes. Involved in the design of the company’s manufacturing process and responsible for running and maintaining the process as well as seeking to continually improve the process. Continually find ways to improve quality and efficiency, both of which lead to a better product and reductions in the cost of producing the product. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure that the company's manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; confer with equipment vendors; solicit observations from operators.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment; confer with equipment vendors.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; test finished product and process capabilities; establish standards; confirm manufacturing processes.
  • Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. .
  • Maintain product, manufacturing and process data.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publication; establish professional networks.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study. 

 

Minimum Work Experience: 

  • Two (2) years of manufacturing process and equipment engineering experience.

 

License(s) / Certification(s): 

  • Certified Manufacturing Engineering Certification is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (i.e., line manufacturing, fabrication and assembly, functional test, HASS, machining, etc.).
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other structured problem-solving process.
  • High degree of proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include associated hardware and software typically used for manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively lead and contribute to the project
  • Organizational skills and the ability to be highly organized.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively work within established timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively under time and resource constraints.
  • Ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and standards of practice.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

Physical Requirements

Normal office and manufacturing environment.
