Distribution Lead

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, serve as a team lead within the distribution/fulfillment center. Provide guidance and assistance to coworkers in performing assigned tasks. Identify and report technical and/or personnel problems to management.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide indirect supervision for receiving, order assembly, replenishment, order accuracy, loading, bill of lading, and packaging.
  • Function as a Distribution Specialist; to include moving and preparing packages, supplies, and equipment.
  • Review, record, allocate, and release production orders; ensure production orders are complete and accurate in both the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Coordinate with leadership and communicate work assignments.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact to carriers for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Identify appropriate storage/holding location for incoming materials and products.
  • Maintain documentation and records, and produce written reports, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Identify and document shipment discrepancies; issue corrections.
  • Conduct physical audit and inventory counts; identify and resolve count discrepancies; evaluate the cause for discrepancies and address to mitigate reoccurrence.
  • Ensure physical audit and inventory counts are completed on schedule; coordinate with other departments as necessary.
  • Ensure packing and distribution standards are maintained; keep team informed of daily quota requirements to meet business needs.
  • Serve as a trainer to new and current Team Members; answer questions and provide guidance; provide equipment training.
  • Serve as a safety champion and promote the use of safe work habits and equipment; conduct regular visual safety inspection of forklifts and other bulk handling equipment.
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the team. Provide guidance to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws. Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience:

Two (2) years of shipping/receiving experience, preferably in the consumer products industry.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid licensure/certificate to operate a forklift.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of distribution/warehousing standards.
  • Knowledge of bulk parcel shipping methods and requirements (i.e. FedEx and UPS).
  • Knowledge of international shipping/receiving procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Proficiency using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and across the Company.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible, non-traditional, hours when necessary.
  • Ability to operate large distribution and packaging equipment (i.e. stretch wrap machine).
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness
