Job Summary
Under the direction of the department manager, lead team members in a positive manner in order to fulfill the production, distribution or receiving requirements. Lead the work of assigned team members ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, productivity and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with leadership and communicate work assignments
- Maintain documentation and records, and produce written reports, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure physical audit and inventory counts are completed on schedule; coordinate with other departments as necessary.
- Ensure packing and distribution standards are maintained; keep team informed of daily quota requirements to meet business needs
- Serve as a trainer to new and current Team Members; answer questions and provide guidance; provide equipment training.
- Serve as a safety champion and promote the use of safe work habits and equipment; conduct regular visual safety inspection of forklifts and other bulk handling equipment.
- Maintain daily attendance and communicate results to department manager.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.
- Based on the departmental area you will train and instruct personnel to set up different jobs i.e. container unloading, rework, production unloading, daily coordination of all shipping / receiving docks, bill of materials and/or other instructional documents.
- Lead the day-to-day activities of the team. Provide guidance to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
Three (3) years of Distribution, Receiving, Logistics experience, preferably in consumer products industry.
Three (3) years’ experience in application of automated Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid licensure/certificate to operate a forklift
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Some leadership training preferred.
- Ability to lead and motivate team members in a positive manner to achieve department/company goals.
- Inventory Control experience a plus.
- Knowledge of distribution/warehousing standards.
- Knowledge of bulk parcel shipping methods and requirements (i.e. FedEx and UPS).
- Knowledge of international shipping/receiving procedures and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Proficiency using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and across the Company.
- Ability to lead/guide the work of coworkers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work flexible, non-traditional hours when necessary.
- Ability to operate large distribution and packaging equipment (i.e. stretch wrap machine).
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled facility.
