This position is based out of Columbus, GA. Remote work with regular travel to Columbus, GA will be considered in certain applicable states.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Supporting in-house attorneys on day-to-day legal matters and long-term projects in a wide variety of areas, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance matters, and international trade
•    Collaborating with cross-functional teams within our family of companies, including marketing, business development, IT, sales, human resources, research and development, and finance as needed on behalf of the Legal team
•    Managing routine correspondences, organization of files and records, and other general administrative tasks
•    Developing and maintaining legal technology platforms, applications, and resources, and identifying and implementing improvements to streamline or improve new or existing practices
•    Researching corporate legal issues relevant to the businesses and preparing appropriate summaries, memos, and related documents to a variety of audiences
•    Reviewing and preparing contracts and agreements
•    Other duties as assigned
 

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:  Degree preferred, but not required.

Minimum Work Experience: Some experience at a law firm or in-house with a corporate legal department or equivalent experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Licensure/Certification: Completion of an accredited paralegal program or comparable certificate will be considered, but not required.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Proficient in using Adobe and Microsoft Office products, including Word (with emphasis on redlining), Sharepoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint 
•    Experience with legal technology, including matter management and billing software, a plus
•    Extraordinary attention for detail, accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism
•    Ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize work to manage multiple competing deadlines, and adapt to the rapidly changing needs of a fast-paced, global business
•    High degree of self-sufficiency and self-motivation, including the ability to take close direction but solve problems independently and escalate issues/seek guidance appropriately
•    Familiarity with virtual meetings, including Zoom
•    Outstanding work ethic, ability to work well under pressure, and willingness to work overtime 
•    Excellent written (grammar, spelling, and format) and oral communication skills, including the ability to research (familiarity with Westlaw, Practical Law, and similar databases a plus), analyze, and explain complex issues to stakeholders at all levels and across different functional areas
•    Discretion when dealing with confidential matters
•    Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability develop effective working relationships with team members working remotely
•    Flexibility for travel within the United States
•    Consistently demonstrates sound analytical ability, ingenuity and judgment
