Associate Quality Engineer

Job Summary

This role is responsible for participating in all aspect of the quality system and processes. Responsibilities include implementation of quality initiatives and quality improvement relative to new and existing products.  This includes utilizing your experience or expertise to evaluate suppliers, solve problems, develop, and execute objectives, improve product and service quality and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals in order to meet or exceed customer and consumers’ expectations. The Associate Quality Engineer will ensure all product quality activity is in line with the Quality Strategy driving customer requirements, consumer expectation and the use of best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Establish alignment between the company requirements, processes & capabilities and performance metrics
•    Produce, analyze, and deliver process performance
•    Develop and implement quality improvement programs including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
•    Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess corrective actions, ensuring completion
•    Drive process initiatives to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, while instilling accountability for product quality.
•    Assist Quality team with new product projects, as assigned, including execution of advanced product quality deliverables, understanding of customer and consumer expectations, and problem solving throughout the development and execution stages
•    Collect and report designated quality measures and other data needed to monitor and improve process, product, and service performance.
•    Analyze product and service defects and complaints; assist in resolution.
•    Use statistical methods to evaluate and upgrade the level of quality.
•    Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of products and processes.
•    Analyze data using Excel and other tools to identify trends and drive action.
•    Determine tests required on products and components, determine samples needed for testing, request samples, submit samples for test, and monitor sample testing.
•    Utilize CMS system to investigate cases in the engineering bin and provide resolutions.
•    Prepare technical reports on relevant quality issues.
•    Create or revise documentation to include company procedures, workmanship standard, and Char-Broil test methods as required.
•    Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:    BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalents or pursuing a BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalents.

Minimum Work Experience:    2+ years working experience in Quality roles, manufacturing, components

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Strong aptitude towards collaboration with suppliers. Desired experience working with offshore or near shore factories
•    Knowledge of Manufacturing Process
•    Good communication skills. Ability to drive improvements on quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity and safety/ergonomic over variables such as material, method, equipment, environment, and operating personnel. Developing solutions to problems utilizing scientific fundamentals, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.
•    Demonstrated knowledge in use of basic precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers and micrometers, depth gauge, radius gauge, etc.)
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills with emphasis on technical writing/technical reports
•    Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
•    Ability to create and give organizational presentations to meet needs of the department.
•    Preferred knowledge in gas component testing, electrical/electronic component testing, color analysis, material analysis using XRF analyzer
•    Proficient in working with Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab or other statistical software packages a plus.
•    Strong interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work under moderate to little supervision.
•    Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of Quality Management and Quality Systems.
•    Knowledge of advanced quality tools and techniques such as APQP, PPAP, Gauge R&R, FMEA, and DOE desired.
•    Demonstrated leadership ability
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness
•    Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers
•    Ability to have regular and predictable attendance
