Copywriter / Associate Content Marketing Manager

Job Summary

Char-Broil is seeking a full-time creative and detail-oriented Associate Marketing Content Manager to help us build our brands and expand our marketing touchpoints.  As our main go-to writer for the marketing team, you are responsible for working with the team on conception and execution of innovative copy, both in digital and print, for our Char-Broil®, Oklahoma Joe’s, and Saber brands.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead the charge in search engine optimization, creating a strategy for each brand and managing through execution
  • Leverage analytics, SEO tools, consumer feedback, and subject matter experts to identify content gaps and propose solutions


  • Write smart, fresh, attention-grabbing copy that brings our brands and products to life
  • Maintain, refine, and adhere to our brand voice, style and tone, for all marketing copy
  • Write content for e-Commerce sites, including a high volume of product descriptions
  • Ensure all web content is SEO optimized and aligns with our marketing goals
  • Create compelling copy for websites, packaging, print, how-to guides, recipes, emails, etc.
  • Write in a succinct and concise manner, ensuring we get the main points across, but keep it consumer first
  • Demonstrate strong copy editing and proofing skills


  • Collaborate with our Agency of Record to continue to refine the voice, style and tone of our brands
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product and Engineering team members as necessary to communicate the most accurate and compelling product information
  • Manage the relationship with our content creators that provide recipes and how-to articles, collaborating with them on the final output and ensuring content is delivered on time


  • Measure content performance across multiple channels and report on metrics
  • Identify and seize opportunities to A/B test and optimize content
  • Understand key KPIs and marketing results to influence work and collaborate in content planning


  • Maintain a high-quality level of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Stay organized and self-manage time to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Embrace daily challenges and be resourceful in solving problems
  • Demonstrate a passion for our Brands and outdoor cooking (grilling, smoking, roasting, etc.)

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field.

Minimum Work Experience: Two (2) of content or digital marketing experience.

License(s) / Certification(s): None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills including excellent English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Knowledge of proficiency using digital web-based analytic tools (i.e. Google Analytics).
  • Knowledge of and proficiency using website editing platforms (i.e., Wordpress or Magento).
  • Knowledge of and proficiency of Search Engine Optimization
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative creative environment where ideas will be challenged, and feedback given
  • Ability to be positive, solutions-oriented, while having fun and inviting innovation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with persons of various personality types at varying levels within and outside the company.
