Manufacturing Technician

Job Summary

Operate simple to moderately-complex manufacturing machines and equipment to produce product or product components in accordance to the prescribed manufacturing run schedule. Setup, monitor, and perform minor trouble-shooting of automated high-volume production equipment. Sample product produced for manufacturing expectations and quality standards.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Operate assigned manufacturing machines and equipment along a production line and in accordance to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to produce product or product components.
•    Set-up, make adjustments, and perform minor troubleshooting of simple to moderately-complex manufacturing equipment.
•    Perform machine change-overs for product runs of varying sizes.
•    Load and unload materials and product components on and off manufacturing machines during production runs.
•    Monitor the production process and perform sample quality checks; remove defective products to allow for continued production; and inform the supervisor of product quality issues.
•    Assist the maintenance team with equipment maintenance as requested.
•    Accurately record production counts and other information as required or deemed appropriate.
•    Prepare packaging materials for manufacturing runs.
•    Prepare all unused materials for storage or supplier return.
•    Identify opportunities for improved efficiency; make recommendations to supervisor for consideration.
•    Maintain a safe and hazard free work environment; wear and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required; and follow established safety policies and procedures.
•    Other duties as deemed necessary.
 

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • One (1) year of manufacturing or general labor experience.

License(s) / Certification(s):

  • None.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices; and the ability to regularly apply them.
•    Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to operate integrated manufacturing equipment; and Microsoft Outlook.
•    Basic math skills and the ability to take and interpret simple measurements.
•    Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and write using English.
•    Problem-solving skills and the ability to use good judgement.
•    Ability to use hand tools to take measurements and make simple adjustments to machines and other equipment.
•    Ability to be detail oriented.
•    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
•    Ability to work effectively on a regular basis in a noisy manufacturing environment.
•    Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

Physical Requirements

Normal line manufacturing environment with the ability to stand for long-periods of time and execute repetitive movements.
