Sales Support Internship - Part Time

Job Summary

Char-Broil is looking for a part-time internship position to work in our Customer Service / Sales Support team.  This position will provide assistance to the customer services team by processing orders from retailers that are placed over the telephone or over email.  You will be responsible for communicating over the phone, entering and releasing orders into ERP system, logistics and distribution scheduling, transportation selection, delivery and returns of product to retailers.  The right person for this role will be self-motivated, perform well in a fast paced, team- oriented environment, and have strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills. Strong Customer Service and analytical skills are a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word required. 

This position will require approximately one week of on-site training Columbus, GA.  Once training is complete- is able to be performed remotely.  Planned schedule is 4 hours per day and is somewhat flexible around school schedule.   This position is open immediately and will end in August 2021.  There is the possibility of additional hours as the sales season evolves.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • Enrollment in College Curriculm relavant to role:  Business Administration, Sales, Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, ect...

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Relavent and or related experience working with and communicating with the public.  Preference will be give to those with experience in a call center or order processing environment.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive quality customer service and support at all times, share order status information, inquiries related to shipments, problem solving, pricing, and inventory availability internally and externally.  This critical performance should be done on a daily basis or as needed in a proficient and professional manner.
  • Execute and deliver all order management and routing management for assigned accounts.  Monitor inventory locations to ensure product availability prior to routing of orders. Oversee and prioritize orders, by monitoring inventory and shipment scheduling to ensure accurate information and timely service are achieved.
  • System management capabilities as a functional expert in multiple systems such as: Red Prairie (Warehouse Management System), Great Plains, SAP, CMS & Order Motion will be used to complete distribution, logistic and order processes; must also be able to maintain and manage interfaces between distribution sites in Columbus, California, Canada and globally.
  • Analyze customer data and follow routing guide instructions on proper use of designated carriers to ensure compliance with terms of customer agreements. Monitor daily performance through the use of key performance metrics and communicate any potential issues that could result in compliance fines from assigned accounts. Review/update these instructions semi-annually.
  • Route Orders and Create Advance Shipping Notices on customer 3 Party Service website alerting customer of incoming shipments, and also pull orders from the site for data entry and processing.
  • Provide updated customer requested spreadsheets and/or GP reports in a timely, professional manner. 
  • Engage in continuous learning opportunities by participating in annual sales training on product and keeping current on all changes to product line.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent skills in PC based applications to include but not limited to Excel, Microsoft Word, Great Plains, & CMS systems. 
  • Internet navigation experience a must
  • Excellent verbal, written and phone communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment
  • Self-assured and able to work with very little supervision
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork ability.
