Job Summary

Char-Broil is hiring a CAD Specialist to provide 3D Computer Aided Design drafting and technical documentation support to Char-Broil Development Engineering team.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Develop Computer Aided Design models for new products based on direction from Development Engineers and Industrial Designers.
•    Create and/or review 2D drawings from 3D CAD models as required to support product design release and third-party certification. 
•    Provide input or create engineering documentation such as BOM’s and ECO’s, etc., for new and existing product
•    Work with Engineers and make-to-spec suppliers to understand their tolerance and process capabilities and translate that to best practice DFM/DFA designs.
•    Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Suppliers’ inputs to determine appropriate dimensions and GD&T applications with tolerance stack-up analysis.
•    Create robust 2D line art and grayscale shaded images from 3D models for use in Product Guides/Instruction Manuals.
•    Maintain product documentation in accord with internal standards and procedures. 
•    Provide engineering documentation as required for product cost quotes. 
•    Create and/or modify Product Guides/Instruction Manuals as required. 
•    Manage release documentation to production and maintain 3D CAD an 2D drawing files in an orderly manner on server or within Pro/E Windchill PDM
•    Other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education:  Associate Degree in mechanical drafting or a related field of study from an accredited technical school or college. A Bachelor of Science degree is a plus.

Minimum Work Experience:  Minimum of 5 years (5,000 hours) experience as a CAD Design Engineer/draftsperson.  Experience with consumer products is a plus.

License(s) / Certification(s):   n/a

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Proficient at creating complete product designs using PTC Creo 4.0 CAD software or higher.  Sheet metal modeling experience using Creo/Pro-Engineering module is preferred. Solidworks or other 3D CAD solutions in place of PTC is acceptable.
•    Strong background in mechanical design working with sheet metal, mechanical fabrication parametric modeling, and production drawings.
•    Ability to effectively self-review own work for quality and clarity, identifying missing information and errors before team review.
•    Working knowledge of and experience using, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.
•    Experience with SAP S4/HANA and Cloud-based PLM systems a plus.
•    Ability to work and communicate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. 
•    Well-developed interpersonal skills with good communication skills.
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
